Google unveils New lightweight Chromebook 11

Google’s Chrome OS is still ticking as a new major OEM has announced a new laptop with Google’s browser-based operating system. Simply dubbed HP ChromeBook 11, this 11.6-inch laptop has a resolution of 1366 x 768 — it’s not nearly as good as the Chromebook Pixel in that regard, but should still be a comfortable viewing experience for any average user.
Specs and features
The computing side of it is taken care of buy an Exynos 5250 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It also features two USB ports, a microSD card slot, and — for the first time ever on a Chromebook — a microUSB port for charging. That port can also be used with HP’s “SlimPort” cables to facilitate video out.

HP says this thing has been built with a magnesium chassis, making it both light and strong at the same time. You also won’t see any visible screws, vents or speakers, and won’t be able to hear the fan purring at all.
Other key specs include 4G LTE connectivity, 6 hours of battery life, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi N, a VGA webcam for video chats, and more. You’ll also get 100GB of extra Google Drive space, and a free two month trial of Google Play Music All Access. You’ll have 60 days from the time of purchase to redeem those two offers, so you won’t want to wait long after buying the Chromebook 11 to do so.

Pricing and availability
The HP Chromebook 11 is now available in black and white for just $279 in the US at Amazon, Google Play and HP Shopping. If you’re in the UK, you can head to your local Currys, PC World and more. As for other regions, Google says other places that sell Chromebooks will have the HP Chromebook 11 in time for the holiday season. We’re still about a month and a half away from that, though, so be sure to sit tight. Anyone looking to scoop one of these up?
