Google’s
new wireless charger for Nexus devices is now on sale for $49.99 (£31), but it
has not yet come to the UK.
The
charger, which is a small, black cube and measures 60 x 60 x 12.5mm, went on
sale in the Google Play store but is only available in the U.S. and Canada.
The Qi charger comes with a 9W 1.8A AC
Adaptor, microUSB cable and a warranty card, and is designed to work with the
Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 smartphones and the Nexus 7 tablet.
Users
will be able to enjoy the convenience of not having to physically plug in their
phone or tablet, and orders are expected to be shipped within one or two days.
Google
also added stock of some new Nexus 5 cases to the store, priced at $34.99.
In
his review of the Nexus 5, The Telegraph’s Head of Technology Matt Warman,
said there was no better no phone at this price.
He
wrote: “The underlying impression is that with the Nexus 5 Google is producing
yet another smartphone that proves a point: its software can not only power
premium devices sold for a decent price, but it can also lead the way with
innovative ideas that will come to fruition in the future and probably in
devices made by others.
“At
this price, that sort of innovation is easy to get excited about.”
