Warner
Bros. is considering a film adaptation of the 2011 mobile game developed and
published by Imangi Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with the Potter series' David
Heyman as the producer.
The
story would centre on an explorer who, having stolen an idol from a temple, is
chased by demonic forces. Warner Bros. is seeking a writer for the project, the
report said.
If
the report is true, Temple Run could join the growing list of video games that
have been adapted into films, which includes Tomb Raider, Mortal Kombat and
Super Mario Bros.
However,
it would be one of the first mobile-based video games to be given the Hollywood
treatment. Of the current generation of mobile games, only Angry Birds has
drawn interest from the major studios, (an animated film is expected in July
2016).
Heyman
has a longstanding relationship with Warner Bros., having produced the eight
harry porter films as well as the studio's box-office hit Gravity.
