David Beckham will host a digital
book signing today that will be broadcast live on Facebook for his fans across
the world.
The former England captain will give
millions of his fans around the world an exclusive insight into his football
career as he launches his new book.
The event will reinvent the
traditional book signing as it uses cutting edge technology to give users in
Hyderabad, New York, and Sao Paulo personalised autographs from Beckham.
Fans have been sending their questions
to Beckham on Facebook during the ten days before the event, and he will then
answered a selection of the questions during a live Q&A hosted by UK sport
presenter, Jake Humphrey.
The event will be streamed live on
Beckham's official Facebook page for fans to watch in real time, but will take
place in a studio in London.
Facebook's entertainment partnership
manager, Glenn Miller, is offering every fan who registers or attends the Beckham
book signing in person on October 30, London time, a digital autograph from
Beckham and participation in a live Q&A session.
"I always like innovative and
original ideas," said Beckham. "What has been created is ambitious but it should be a fantastic event. I love the interaction with my fans, but not only will I be able to do this in London, I will be able to sign for them in locations across the world."
"This heralds a completely new
way to launch books," said Facebook's Glenn Miller. "Facebook is where
people go to connect about the things that matter most to them and this global
event is a great example of how we can engage with public figures in a
meaningful and authentic way."
Beckham will launch his new photography book entitled David
Beckham.
