GTA 5 breaks seven Guinness World Records

he latest iteration of Rockstar North's GTA franchise was released last month amid acclaim from critics and queues around the block from fans waiting to pick up their copy at midnight.
Within 24 hours of its release the game had taken more than £500m worldwide and after three days it had passed the £1 billion mark.
That demand made GTA 5 the fastest entertainment product of all time to gross $1 billion, beating Hollywood blockbusters and Christmas number ones.
It also sold more copies than any other game and bought in more cash than any other entertainment product in its first 24 hours on the shelves.
"GTA totally deserves to be recognised as an icon of modern British culture, and we’re thrilled to be able to feature the game in the record books," said Guinness World Records editor-in-chief Craig Glenday.
"Gaming is no longer a niche hobby, as GTA 5 has proved, and how exciting that it’s taken on the might of Hollywood and won!"
GTA 5 was greeted with five-star reviews across the board with critics praising the detailed Los Santos city map and the game's dark, satirical humour.
Edge magazine said GTA 5 was a "remarkable achievement" that sent a message to the industry, while games website IGN called it a "masterpiece" and one of the greatest games ever created.
