We have known for a little while now that Apple is definitely
working on its own smartwatch. With the launch of the Galaxy
Gear we have gotten a better idea of what to expect of a
smartwatch, but Apple analyst Brian White says the Apple iWatch will go
much further then this and it will also allow you to control home electronics
from your wrist.
Brian White has been travelling in China talking to Apple
suppliers to get more information about the iWatch, he writers the following to MacRumors
As
an Apple supplier, our contact offered insight into the “iWatch” and described
this potential new device as much more than an extension of your iPhone but as
a multi-purpose gateway in allowing consumers to control their home (i.e.,
heating/cooling, lights, audio, video, etc.).
A great example of this are Phillips Hue Lights which are LED
lights that are controllable from your iPhone or iPad using the Hue app. It was
no surprise to hear that Apple will allow its smartwatch to do lots and lots
more then just be a “companion” of your smartphone, specially after the
criticism the Galaxy Gear has been having for its lack of features. It is also
interesting to see how Apple could implement iBeaconsinto the smartwatch, allowing users to get notifications depending
on the geographical location.
If the iWatch will really allow us to control everyday electronic
devices we have in our house, this could be a mayor hint of a possible
future Apple television
or iTV. It has been rumored for months now that Apple will
release a Apple TV during
its June WWDC 2014 keynote. The latest rumors we heard regarding the iTV is
that there will be 3 different models a 42″ inch, 55″ inch and 60″inch model
and of course a 4K
retina display. What better device to use then your watch as a TV
remote, right?
